“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” ~ St. Augustine
To say it’s been a lifetime in the making is not an exaggeration. Since our early teens, we’ve both had a strong desire to travel and see the world – Warren inspired by reading Surfer Magazine; Lee-Ann by the novel “The Drifters”. The stars have finally aligned to make our dream come true.
On January 20th, we board a plane on a one-way ticket to Hong Kong where we will begin an anticipated 11-month journey to see some of this great big beautiful blue ball we all share. After a few days taking in Hong Kong, our first couple of months will see us exploring India. After that, our current plan is to head to Vietnam. But we’ll see… we’re keeping our options wide open.
Our goal is not so much to “see” as it is to “experience”. We hope to learn how others live their lives: to immerse ourselves in new cultures and environments and ultimately broaden our personal perspectives of the world around us. We’ll be using this blog to share a few of our adventures along the way with family and friends. We hope that you’ll check in every now and then and see how we’re doing.
With the days to our departure quickly counting down, dealing with the countless details required to launch our travels, we’ll be pausing to enjoy the Holidays… at least for a day or two. We hope you have wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year and look forward to updating you in January.
“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” ~ Miriam Beard
